Travis Waldron

I'm a Brasilia-based editor at Bloomberg News, where I edit and write stories on economics and government from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and the rest of Latin America. 

With 15 years of experience, I have covered everything from U.S. campaigns to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Brazilian presidential elections, sports, the media and music. 

I joined Bloomberg in 2023 after eight years at HuffPost, and currently edit a team of reporters based in Brasilia, Buenos Aires and Mexico City. My main focus is Brazil's government and economy -- the largest in Latin America -- but I've also helped cover Mexico's most recent election, global summits like the G-20 in Rio, and the fallout from Venezuela's most recent electoral dispute. 

Prior to Bloomberg, I covered sports business for HuffPost before transitioning to cover U.S. and international politics. Before that, I worked at ThinkProgress for nearly five years, covering elections, economic policy and the intersection of sports and politics. I've also contributed to the Columbia Journalism Review, and had articles published in the Atlantic and other news outlets.

I have twice participated in reporting fellowships through the International Center for Journalists, both of which took me to Brazil to explore how new digital media outlets have helped cover underserved communities, and the issues that affect them, that traditional media has long ignored.
